NE MS Rose Society - Recent Events

The Northeast MS Rose Society meet in September for a garden tour at the home of Lee Pryor Caldwell. The Caldwells have a beautiful garden with comfortable porches, gazebo, and patio areas. Lee Pryor grows magnificent roses.. she and her husband recently added a new rose garden which the Rose Society members were delighted to visit. A delicious dinner was enjoyed by all after the tour. 



In October, the  Northeast MS Rose Society hosted a Floral Demonstration. The public was invited to come and bring a container and watch as Floral designer, Tracy Proctor, created stunning arrangements from roses and garden plant material provided by the Rose Society members. Tracy, owner of Design by Tracy Proctor, showed audience members how to creatively make our flowers and plants into extraordinary arrangements, centerpieces, and garlands. The owners of the containers used were the happy recipients of  beautiful flowers to take home!

Introducing 'Clovie'

Introducing a new rose  'Clovie' that was hybridized by SWLA Rose Society member Steve Roussell.  This rose was previewed by Steve at the 2018 Gulf District Mid Winter Workshop in Lafayette.  It is a Hybrid Tea, Orange Pink, 4-5" blooms, 30-35 petals, very fragrant, medium upright growth, medium matt green foliage. Marilyn Wellan honored with presentation of Gold Honor Medal at ARS National Rose Show

ARS Gold Medal 2017   Transcript of Pat Shanley's presentation: The ARS Gold Honor Medal is the highest honor one can receive in the American Rose Society.  The recipient is chosen by the ARS Prizes & Award Committee.  The nominee must be a current member of the American Rose Society and have at least 12 years of service in ARS.  The nominee must have diligently worked on the National level, in any capacity, for the betterment of the American Rose Society and its membership.  The nominee must have done work of merit above and beyond the normal call of duty and devotion.  This year's honoree has spent the better part of her adult life in service to the Rose and the American Rose Society.  She has been a member of the American Rose Society since 1984 and is an ARS Life Member.  Since the early 1980's she has been actively involved on the Local, District and National levels.
